As I embark on conceptualizing a brand for a biotech company who’s focus is on purifying water, the nagging feeling that I ‘NEEDED’ to publish my blog post on water was becoming more prominent.
I traveled to Uttar Pradesh with Karin Heschl & Bruce Johnson, Homa Therapy Volunteers, to conduct a farmers training course on Homa Organic Farming. As is typical on our journey into the village we toured several farms and assed the needs of the farmers who are interested in converting to Homa Farming
This trip was especially significant, in that it was the first time I was exposed to the effects of highly toxic water on humans.
Homa Therapy is a unique method in that it offers an inexpensive potential solution to the water problem affecting millions of villagers, throughout India. Bruce, Karin and I went as guests of IFFCO (a national farmers's organization) and toured two village blocks, both of which have significantly different water crises.
In the first village block, home to over 50,000 villagers, the water was contaminated with Fluoride and Arsenic. This is an issue all over the world. I have heard time and time again fluoride is poisonous to the human body. But it never sank in until I could personally see, just how rapidly the body decays when the people are forced to drink Fluoride contaminated water.
The children have decaying teeth and bones from probably never having been exposed to clean water. Young adults reaching 3/4 of full height due to the severity in bone deformity.
“A water survey conducted by the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Indian Red Cross Society found that fluoride content in the region's water is eight per cent, when the permissible limit is only two per cent. According to a scientist working with the Indian Toxicology Research Centre ( ITRC ), Lucknow, regular consumption of fluoride contaminated water can affect both nerves and bones. "Gradually it makes movement of limbs extremely difficult," he says. According to an ITRC report, prolonged exposure to fluoride contaminated water also causes a variety of other diseases.”
In the second village block we visited, home to 10’s of thousands of villagers, the water was completely saline. It was literally like drinking liquid salt. The people have to walk several miles in order to collect clean water.
How is this possible?
INDUSTRY – unfortunately we are all responsible for this. It is a global issue because we ALL support industry in one form or another.
“
Several petitions have been made by those afflicted, urging the government for help. But their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. When the matter was reported to the Union government, it asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take immediate steps. However, officials from the state government have downplayed the magnitude of the crisis. They say the problem cannot be solved unless the factories -- which include textile, pharmaceutical and dying units, besides tanneries -- stop discharging effluents into the river.”
So to make a point, here in the west we may feel that we are not as affected by such things as heavy amounts of fluoride in the water. But guess what we are completely wrong in this approach. Below is from an article:
Fluoride Will Ruin Your Teeth - And Your Health!
When I think of fluoridation, two words come to mind: medical experiment. And the guinea pig is Y-O-U. That's right: Without any solid proof that ingesting fluoride was beneficial for your teeth-and with no safety tests conducted to determine its potential effects on the rest of your body - the government moved forward with the mass medication of the country's water supply. Think about it: With the exception of fluoride, every other chemical added to tap water is for the purpose of improving the water's safety. Fluoride is the only chemical added for the purpose of medication. And just like all drugs doled out by Big Pharma, this one comes with a litany of potential side effects. The difference? There's no black box warning on your faucet like there is on a bottle of pills.
But there should be.
Did you know that for years fluoride was classified as a toxic waste in this country? In fact, not too long ago its only approved uses were as an insecticide and a RAT POISON! And that's just how your body treats it - as a poison.
So what is the solution?
If we are lucky to have the extra cash flow we can install high tech water filtration systems. And such is one solution, which was discussed on our ventures into the village. However for the masses this does not seem practical.
I personally believe that Homa Therapy, with its very simple methodology holds an answer to help the purification of water. If indeed we are looking down a very short timeline towards the next world war, which is not said to be over oil, but instead over water - don’t you think Y-O-U ought to be thinking about this too?
